"the modification to the body shell made by hammer-wielding employees at
Jensen. "

Damn, this story never dies. No one at Jensen ever pounded the body shell of
a Tiger by a hammer. Jensen was too professional a business to let loose
workers with hammers wacking at 7,000+ cars for a major auto manufacturer.
The firewall was a die pressing. Check it out, you shouldn't see hammer marks
unless a DPO did it.

I am amazed to here all of the complaining about the value of the Tiger.

I'm saying this in the full realization that a car owner can do whatever he
wants to his car but the fact that so many Tigers are modified way beyond the
LAT options, in my humble opinion, affects the perceived value of a Sunbeam
Tiger. Just about every British car show I go to has very few modified cars.
As a matter of fact, most owners go to great lengths to keep their car
"factory original". Just about every example of a Tiger I see in a magazine
is modified/customized beyond what was available by Rootes back in the day. I
try to keep mine as close to stock as possible because its rare to see a stock
Tiger.

There is one owner in Ann Arbor who, to her credit, drives her original 289
Cobra to car shows. I told her I was suprised to see a real Cobra at any show
given how expensive they are. She replied that it is just car and she was't
worried about damaging it. He also said that when it not being driven its
parked next to her original 427 Cobra in the garage. I have seen the 289 on
local roads occasionally but not the 427.

              Jeff
