Car is a basic 260 with Petronix ignition and coil.
Many have suggested problems with gas, but if the carb or fuel lines or
fuel
pump were messed up, would it start and run correctly the next day? I
don't
see how a carb or fuel filter is going to clean themselves.
Yes, it ABSOLUTELY can do this. Think about it. If you have flakes or
other garbage in the gas tanks, as you drive, the gas in the tanks is
sucked towards the outlet pipe in the center of the balancing tube. The
longer you drive, the more the gas and flakes are sucked towards that
hole. Then the flakes finally hit the hole and you've got exactly the
stumbling you are talking about. Then you get home and stop the car. At
this point, the gas is no longer being sucked into the outlet pipe, and no
longer pulling the flakes. So, they move away from the hole again and the
hole is open again, ready for your next start up.
So, no, the carb, fuel lines and pump are not what are being blocked. It's
the outlet hole in the tube between the tanks.
