When I bought my Tiger the previous owner asserted it had a limited slip
diff, and it certainly launched that way, but the rear axles didn't have
any clutch preload - spin one side forward and the other side spun the
other way. I just pulled off the diff cover and found that it's got a
Torsen LSD, which explains both symptoms. The date code on the (3.31)
gearset indicates 1985 vintage. The dregs of the diff oil has very fine
metallic dust in it, not enough to really worry about, but the spider
(worm) gears do show quite a bit of visual wear.

So... is anyone still making or stocking rebuild kits that include the
internal gears, or should I just put it back together with a good
quality (synthetic) oil and drive it? The diff didn't make significant
noise either under load or coasting so I'm not worried about the ring
gear and pinion (the wear pattern looks good on them as well), but I'd
hate to put everything back together from here and then have to
disassemble it all again in a short time.

I'll be running an '88 5.0, F4B, headers, light flywheel, and T5 for at
least the near future. I don't expect to go to an ultra-zoomy motor
anytime soon.

Thanks,
Theo
