1965 Sunbeam Tiger
When the tiny U.K. carmaker Sunbeam wanted to juice up its docile Alpine
convertible, it went straight to American racing legend Carroll Shelby. By
1964 he'd found a way to cram a snarling Ford V8 under the hood, where a
mild-mannered British four-cylinder engine once rested, and the Tiger was
born: a fire-breathing machine that could contend with Jaguars and Corvettes.
Only 7,000 of these beauties were made during the three years they were in
production. Survivors fetch $30,000 and up.
