When we were doing race car prep, one ugly task was to remove the
sound-deadener tar/felt matting that was applied to the inside floor areas.
I'd used the scraper/heat/solvent method several times, but an acquaintance
had access to quantities of dry ice. He'd put a bag of dry ice on the area
of the floor he wanted to work on, wait for it to chill down the tar etc.
and then smack it with a hammer. All the sound deadener would shatter and
break off the floor in large chunks.

I'm not sure how well that would work on undercoating but it might... If you
got a sharp chisel to get between the undercoating and the chassis metal,
you could chill it to make it brittle and then chip it all off. This would
be easier if you had it on a rotisserie of course. If you're doing it from
under the car, then you'd have to set the bags of dry ice on the floor
inside the car.
