The Tiger that has been listed in the last several issues of Hemming's Motor
News belonged to a good friend of mine. In the original ads the previous
ownership was acknowledges as Darrell Brunn.
Darrell Brunn was a very active member of the Tiger "community" for a number
of years. Over the years he became quite close friends with Doan Spencer and
Doan's wife and family. Doan did most of the mechanical work on the car and
probably some of the bodywork like the fender vents and exhaust which are the
most noticeable of the many modifications. Doan had wheels cast to his
specification that were similar to the Halibrand knock offs originally used on
the Tiger racer. His name is on the castings.
The car is quite beautiful and was done without regard for expense. It was
first shown at the Tigers United held in Lake Geneva, WI. in 1994. The car is
more representative of a particular owners idea of the "perfect Tiger" rather
than fitting into a race car or totally correct stock Tiger. I guess it would
best be called "personalized". If you have ever seen any of the cars and
memorabilia that Mr. White has offered for sale in the past it is always first
rate period!
