Tod, Your dissertation on cooling is right on. There is one thing I would like to discuss is the effect of a thermostat in the system. A proper thermostat, when open, will provide a restriction that increases the pressure in the block and pump. This pressure reduces pump cavitation and local boiling in hot spots of the block and actually increases coolant flow. John Logan |
