Jim
I don't believe this process is documented anywhere.
First, take your time with this and always work safely
Follow the service manual to remove the front wheels and disassemble the
front suspension or at least remove the sway bar and springs
Jack up the car and put the jack stands under the frame rails behind the
crossmember
Disconnect and remove the brake hard lines
Disconnect the steering column at the rack
Under the hood look down at the frame rails; you will see 2 vertical
threaded bungs per side, these are the 4 crossmember bolts. Blow any dirt
or water out of these threaded areas and put some oil there.
Support the center of the crossmember with a floor jack
Remove the 4 bolts; they are 3 1/4 inches long
Lower the floor jack a little and check that there is nothing still
connected
Lower the floor jack and pull the crossmember from under the car
Installing the 4 bolts is only a problem because it is a blind hole and it
is a little difficult to keep the bolt vertical to get it through the
crossmember and the aluminum wedge

Subject: Crossmember removal
Is the crossmember r & r process documented anywhere? I can't find it in
the service manual. I know it only requires the removal of 4 bolts, but
there has to be some expertise involved - where do you put the jacks, how
high do you jack the car, how do you support the crossmember before you
start loosening bolts, etc. I also understand that getting the holes lined
up when reinstalling can be a bitch. I'm a neophyte on this kind of
mechanical work. Thanks.
