I store my Tiger about 5 months in the snow belt. When I store the car  I 
start the engine and pour a light motor oil into the carb until white  smoke 
comes out of the exhaust pipes and then shut it off. Also I bump the  engine 
over 
with the starter several times a month so the same valve  springs are not 
compressed for the next 5 months, but not starting the  engine.
