A comment and a question for the list. First winter project was pull the
driveshaft and check a suspect rear u-joint . Yes rear had one bad bearing,
replaced both, with the help of info from list. Local shop had them in stock
and
they fit just right. There is a local chap that does a lot of mustang
restoration and has helped me with a couple of things....and he has a basket
tiger.. He recommended getting the driveshaft balanced while I had it out.
There
are several local shops that can do this. Yes it was out, enough to need a bit
of weight front and rear. Can't test it right now, bout 3 in of snow, but
should warm up next week and let me try a high speed run. I'v replaced lots of
u-joints over the years, but never took the time to have a driveshaft checked.
For al it costs prob worth the time and effort.
Question.. my MK II has a Lockheed replacement booster that is nicely set
up, and has been rebuilt with a kit by the PO. It still does the hang up thing
he tells me, so it's bypassed. Now do I get a local brake shop that really
knows it's stuff with old boosters to redo this one. Or do I buy a 7in Girling
like on e-bay now and have it rebuilt by a specialist? Thoughts?
ideas?....thanks.....cheers.....phil
