Thanks to all who offered their thoughts on booster
rebuilding. This group is a great resource.
I am resisting the temptation to tackle the job
myself, and for reasons of economy (base price $305),
proximity (I can drive there and save shipping), about
a one week turnaround, 40 years experience at this,
and several excellent referrals I dropped my booster
at Karps today.
They made a very good first impression, and are
familiar with the Girling unit. After disassembly and
inspection they'll give me a call as to whether
re-sleeving is needed. They also re-sleeve in
stainless, which they feel is harder and more
corrosion resistant than brass.
I will report back when I have it back and
re-installed.
