Opinions may vary, but with the plethora of crate engines including the
popularity of stroked engines available, it's possible more Tiger owners will
put
their original 260's and 289's on an engine stand in the garage, bag it and
then drop, for instance, a new 340 HP Ford crate engine for under $3,500.
Also, the modern aluminum head will more than make up for the increased weight
of the scattershield.
I just picked up a copy of the December issue of Mustang and Fords and the
article featuring one of the first Tigers, if not the first, is very good and
more in-depth than the average magazine article. Tigers have hit the
mainstream, even the owner of this Tiger decided to shelve his original 260 in
favor
of '64 289 with 302 internals and an LAT kit.
For those who want a scattershield, sheetmetal can always be pounded back
into shape. :-)
