Several years ago I had a local mechanic who could balance the wheels on a
car better than anyone had in my driving history. The gent has passed away
in the last few years and had retired prior to that. He balanced the wheels
on the car and if it had hubcaps he kept them on. He explained if you use a
spin or bubble balancer to balance the wheels and then add the hubcaps after
replacing the wheels/tires on the car that the wheel had to be out of
balance. He used a strobe light of some sort and had an electric motor that
turned a round groved shaft which he pushed against the tire, thus rotating
the wheel. The car was jacked up of course. I have no idea the name of the
equipment but it wasnt long ago I was talking to a guy at my friends tire/
muffler shop and he too had seen this type balancer. Perhaps a senior owner
might also remember this type of equipment and have more knowledge. Im
certain if Joey and or anyone else having problems with their wheels that
they could solve said problems IF they could locate an older mechanic who
has this type balancer. Cheers, Tony
