CAT years ago had a tech tip on this. They traced the problem to the rubber nipple of the right tank filler hose. Its where the small pressure balance hose connects. It develops cracks from dry rot, etc and leaks fumes into the trunk and then into the car. Their solution was a new rubber hose with a nice brass nipple connection. Solved my and Ken Bishop's problem, Price back then was $10. Back to Peoria |
