You need to realign the door to the body shell opening. Having said that and
having been a body man for over 20 years, I'm not sure how to explain it. In
a perfect situation the door will not set out past the front fender and the
gap will be the same top to bottom. But you must also align to the rear
quarter panel the same way. Perhaps start by loosening or removing the door
stricker....the piece on the shut face the lock grasps and see how the door
closes.
If it hinge binds at the front you may have to loosen the hinges and move
the door out at the front. I'ts best to support the door with a floor jack and
a piece of wood while doing this as the whole door can drop as well as moving
in or out at the same time. It is a 3 d type of thing. You can also move the
door on both sides of the hinges..ie you can slide it in and out top and
bottom on the pillar you can also move it back and forth on the door top and
bottom. Must remember that if you move a door back at the bottom it will go
ahead
at the top.....this is not working i really need to show you how this
happens. generally a prob at the front is a hinge bind type of thing. The door
must
go back or out or both, get it to fit with out the stricker then adjust that
to have the door close tight but not bind. I can't start to explain how to
"bend" hinges to make stuff fit. the stricker plate can also cause the door to
move up or down at the back if it is not set right, as well as in or out.
Sorry I'm not doing this well its a touchey feeley thing. Maybe someone else
can
do this better I'll keep an eye on the replys......ie i do know how to
change a window regulator as well but to explain it is something i cant
do.....sorry
