As Mark Donahue famously remarked: "If, upon exiting a corner, you can leave
two long black stripes until you have to break for the next corner, THEN you
have enough horsepower." (M.Donohue ca. 1971) Unfortunately, like a lot of
racers before and after, he too met an early death racing. In his particular
case, it was apparently a bad Firestone tire (under-cured), which
disintegrated during a Formula 1 race in Austria. Firestone lost a lawsuit
and had to pay his family $18.6 M - which is probably a whole lot more than
your family can expect should something on your car malfunction at high
speed. You've probably got another 4-6 months of sorting out brakes,
steering, suspension, and familiarity with driving the beast before you're
going to be ready for that last 1/4-1/2 throttle.
