I've seen cars advertised as "completely original" and "fully restored".
My
thinking always was, "completely original" would mean that the cars has all
of its original parts, but often these same ads explain what has been
replaced. Can a car be considered original if 25% of the parts did not
originally
come with the car? Maybe the term "original" means parts have been replaced
with
new pieces that look like the orginals ???
OK, here's my take:
Original=Survivor. Never re-painted, re-engined, re-anything...replace with
oem/nos of wear items ok, but that's it! Patina is the commonly used word to
describe a truly original car.
Restored=all replaced items as "original"...but, not original. Brought back
with nos/oem parts and all items no longer available oem (like paint, as an
example) best reproduction used. Concours is a commonly used word to describe a
restored car.
Restified or resto-mod: Rebuilt, renewed, renovated...with modifications to
original spec items made as owner has chosen, usually to enhance performance.
Bitchin' is a commonly used word to describe a restified car!
