You need to check the float level first. Take the air cleaner off
and with the engine cold, turn the ignition to ON, do not start the engine.
The fuel pump should click for a couple of second and then stop. If the
fuel pump continues to run, turn ignition OFF. The carb will look wet
inside and that means the float is not shutting the fuel off.
Take the top off the carb and see what the float is doing; if the
float is at the bottom, check to make sure it is free to travel up and down
and that it is attached correctly to the fuel inlet and needle valve.
Remove the float and check to see if it will float in water, if not you need
a new fuel float. If it is up and the fuel level is high then the float
needs to be adjusted, also check the needle valve to see if it needs
replacement and check the inlet valve for dirt. The rebuild kit has
direction about float level adjustments, read and follow. After making
adjustments and with the top still off the carb, turn the ignition to ON and
watch the fuel level and listen for the pump to stop. Turn the ignition
OFF. If everything is OK put the top of the carb back on and install the
air cleaner.
Bushing the throttle shaft needs to be done in a machine shop by
someone with the correct tools and experience.

Subject: Carb gas leak
ok guys i got another one for ya,
there is just a little tiny bit of gas leaking from the carb. it is leaking
from the long shaft that holds the butterfly things on. Well when looking
strait at the car, it is leaking from the left hand side. The shaft is like
the
bottom most thing.
Now is there a gasket or bushing that i can use from the carb kit that i
got? What does it look like if there is.
Thanks
