1. The Tiger's passenger door suddenly would not fully close yesterday.
I spent an hour trying to adjust the receiving (chrome) latch on the
body various ways but nothing allowed the "pin" in the door itself (the
vertical part that goes up and down when you move the door handle on the
door or push the button on the outside door handle) to catch that second
"rise" on the chrome latch on the car body. Comparing the door hardware
on the drivers side that worked well, I noticed there's that little
darker (almost black) horizontal piece in the door latch hardware at the
bottom that slides in and out. It was frozen on the passenger side. I
took the chrome assembly off of the passenger door and took it apart,
WD40'd it and made sure that sliding part moved freely and re-installed
the assembly. That was it and the door now closes perfectly. I still
haven't quite figured out the function of that black sliding part (too
much thinking needed?), but look for that if the same happens to your
Tiger or Alpine.
2. Question: The passenger side window has gotten harder and harder to
roll up and down. This seems to have happened since I had the door
panels replaced but it has gradually become even worse since then. I
have to roll it up a couple of inches, down an inch, up a couple more
inches, etc. etc. to get it all the way open or closed. I know the panel
will have to come off but are there any obvious things to look for when
it does tonight? If I'm lucky, maybe it just needs some more WD40 or lube.

PS: I'm still trying to track down the noxious exhaust smell that gets
sucked into the car with either window partially down. From list
suggestions I've already checked the lower tank hoses behind the bumper.
All of those are on tight and dry. I temporarily extended the tail pipes
out another 4 inches using some cardboard I wrapped around the real tips
to see if getting them further out would change the dynamics back there.
No luck. It still stinks just as bad. I'm going to change the upper
crossover hose tonight, although what I have doesn't smell like raw
fuel. One thing I have noticed is that the inside of the exhaust pipes
is dark black and the exhaust coming out of them is pretty powerfully
smelly. I'm thinking that a good deal of the problem may be just that
the Holley carb jets are too rich so I'm going to try some smaller sizes
to see if that helps without hurting performance.
