Hi all:
I should've been a bit more specific:
If I set the distributor in a certain position and then in order to
advance it I turn it clockwise, the vacuum diaphragm will interfere with
the upper radiator hose.
If I rotate the distributor back so that it can turn clockwise without
interfering with the upper radiator hose (assuming the advance
adjustment is clockwise) and it turns out that the distributor is
actually advanced *counterclockwise*, the vacuum canister is blocked
from rotating by the throttle spring attachment mount.
So it was something I was hoping to deal with before I actually get into
fiddling with the timing when I get the engine running. By finding out
which way I turn the distributor to advance it, I can choose the
*location* of the distributor such that I won't have interference when I
advance it.
And unfortunately, I don't remember which way I rotated the distributor
to advance it--it's been a couple of months since the last time I
fiddled with it.
I did look on the vacuum canister, but didn't see any arrows.
So, if somebody could tell me which way to rotate the distributor to
advance it, it would (hopefully) save me a bit of aggro down the line.
Not that there hasn't been plenty of aggro already, so it's not like a
little more would cause me to run screaming into the night. Actually,
I've already done that "-)
Thanks again!
Best Regards
David
