NxxOx? Into a 40-year-old 260? Whoo --- how about an engine all over
the road?
Best way is the earlier advice -- overhaul and shoebox the original 260
and put a 5.0 crate motor in there-- just to make sure that a restorer
can get back to the original in some unforseeable time frame.
That said -- anyone got any good advice on preserving an overhauled and
stored engine? One or more of the valves are going to be left open no
matter where the engine stops, and that's a passage for moisture
intrusion ... etc, etc, etc. What's normally done to counteract this
kind of impending damage -- leave the engine in pieces in an oil blanket
of some kind?
