OK Listers,
Here is an old trick that can clean all kinds of stuff off of your car. I
assume that you have already tried wax and grease remover and soap and
water...The key is to NOT RUB at the stain as any significant mechanical
removal of the sap will abrade (scratch) the paint surrounding the sap and
once it is gone it will have a dull area with a shiny center that will
resemble a jam filled X-mas cookie.
The thing I have done in the past is to GENTLY soak the sap with Pepsi Cola
.... YUP the stuff you drink. I have not done it for a while but have used
it to remove road tar and other road grime. Be sure to thoroughly flush with
water after to prevent creating a home for ants.
Really gentle scrubbing after soaking should help to remove the sap.
If the Pepsi does not work try the Clay Magic cleaning bar .......
If not then you have to scrape it carefully and then polish the car in the
area of the stain.
After keep the car liberally waxed on top surfaces and wash whenever sap
gets blown or dripped onto the car. If it cooks in the sun it will be VERY
hard to clean.
