Kevin,
It would seem to me that I would start checking the valvetrain as it looks
like there is an excessive amount of threads sticking out of the forward
adjusting nut. It is possible that you pulled a stud from the head as they
are just pressed in and if you have any decent valvesprings on the engine
and you have RPM'd the engine in the last few days that could be the
problem. Also if you have a non-stock camshaft I would check the bottom of
the rockers as potentially it could have bound if you have more lift than
stock as the slots on the bottom of the rockers are prone to binding with
higher lift cams and then they crack.
