I had a similar but not identical problem. I installed period correct NOS
Kangol belts (E-Type option in sixties). The belt felt wrong across the waist,
and the inside recepticals were difficult at the wrinkle-finish plates on the
seats.
I corrected the problem as follows:
At the local hardware store I purchased two very heavy guage u-bolt clamps
with the flat plates. These plates had two holes. One hole was bolted to the
stock inside seatbelt mount. I then bolted the seat belt receiver to the other
end of this plate. This moved the seat belt mount about four and a half
inches forward on the inside. The hareware fits nicely under the carpet and is
not noticable. Voila.
