The inertia switch can be done using an accelerometer sensor or by a
pendulum type switch but you're going to be pretty annoyed when you hit
a sharp bump in the road and it exceeds the threshold you've set. It
would be fairly straightforward to set up a relay type system that
automatically powers on when you turn the ignition on, but will then
kill the pump on a subsequent loss of oil pressure.

I would like some ideas on adding an automatic fuel pump cutoff switch.
In case of an accident, it would be valuable to stop the flow of fuel.
I know of two types of cutoff switches available:
1. Inertia, which activates when subjected to a rapid change in
acceleration or deceleration.
2. Oil pressure, which would cutoff the fuel when oil pressure is lost.
The inertia switch would probably be the best because very little extra
wiring would be needed and the engine wouldn't have to be cranked to
bring up oil pressure to activate the pump.
