I'm afraid that I must agree with the comment made in Rande's reply, that it's
unlikely that the clubs would be able to work together well enough to make this
work.
That said, there is a monthly publication called the British Marque Car Club
News. It was started about a decade ago by members of several local clubs, to
reduce their newsletter costs. The folks who did it set it up as an entity
separate from any of the participating clubs. Today there are many clubs,
spread mostly over the eastern half of the nation, using the marque news either
their only newsletter, or as a supplement. Though TE/AE is not a participant,
our own Mr. Bellman contributes a monthly column, and I've had a couple things
published there too. A lot of the clubs are in New England, so it's a great
way to see what else is going on. I made the contacts that got us into the
Collings estate through an article in this.
I think the separate entity is the key here. Maybe something like this could
work, maybe quarterly, if it was done free from the dominance of any one club.
Speaking of great newsletters, you should see the STOC quarterly publication
out of England. Huge, color, tons of interesting articles. It puts any of our
efforts to shame.
