There is a 10 volt output instument voltage stabilizer in the dash that could
be the culprit. Check the output with a voltmeter and it should be a steady
10v. Since this supplies the temp and fuel gauge only I would start there.
If memory serves me, it should be around the middle of the dash. You can get a
wiring diagram from Tigers United. Look for a lightgreen/green striped wire
from the 10v to the instrument.
Grounds are always an issue, especially with the wood dash if the 10 v is not
the problem.
