Back in the 70's I had a friend that had a Spearco Pinto (Turbo 2.0). He killed that engine and installed a 289. For the longest time he couldn't fix his cooling problems until he found that the lower radiator hose coil had been drawn into the water pump. How he never heard it I don't know, but replacing the "wire wound" pump and the lower hose fixed his problems. Sometimes it is the simple things that are the hardest to figure out.
