Those washers are usually meant to be used only once, since they are supplied
in a dead-soft condition so that they'll conform to the surfaces being sealed.
Steve's other question was whether or not teflon tape would be usable as a
sealer for the threads. If the threads are straight, then you can't use tape on
them, and a sealing washer is required. If the threads are tapered, then you
shouldn't use a sealing washer since you're supposed to tighten the switch
until the threads are sealed. In this case a Teflon tape or teflon goop such as
LocTite PST should be used. The Teflon won't have any trouble dealing with the
temperatures encountered in that part of the engine compartment.
