My brake lights started to work intermittently a few days ago. I had 
replaced the switch a few months ago and it worked fine for a while. I 
took out the switch (in the engine compartment), wiped off the fluid, 
and hit the switch on the pavement a few times. I re-installed the 
switch and now the brake lights work perfectly! Exacly why this worked, 
I don't know, but I thought I'd try it, short of ordering a new switch. 
It worked!
