Hello all,
I just got a pair of Tiger rear hubs back from the machine shop today. I had
the old 7/16" wheel studs pressed out and the holes enlarged a very little to
allow tapping for 1/2" studs. I will use these eventually with aftermarket
aluminum rims that fit the late model mustangs.
The hubs as you might know are forged steel and very hard. Luckily very little
had to be drilled out for tapping and they had a good tap. The 3" long ARP
1/2" wheel studs look impressive. I understand I will need to run a spacer
plate of about 1" in thickness when using the mustang wheels. (The reason for
long studs).
As I looked these little beauties over I couldn't help but notice that there is
one hole on the face of the hub at an edge about 3/16" and is tapped fine
thread. This is the same on both hubs. Since I have a lot of senior moments
any more ... I can't for the life of me think of what these holes accommodate.
Can anyone enlighten me? I can take a digital picture and post it in an
accessible album on the web if it is necessary.
Thanks for your interest and advice ...
