Listeners,
I may have a chance of purchasing a 5 bolt 289 HiPo. Has anyone run the K in
their Tiger? I'm interested in how to tell the difference between it and a
stock 289 and any problems of installation. Can I move everything over from
my 260 like the flywheel and such? Also what's the deal on adjusting the
mechanical lifters? Like how may miles can I get away with between
adjustments. How bad is it taking Tiger lettered valve covers off and on for
the adjustment? I looked in "how to rebuild a small block ford" But it
seemed pretty general. The one thing it did say is you have to adjust the
lash after the motor is installed  with it running. How does this work out
with a freshly painted engine compartment? Are there any good reference
books I should get? And no I'm not going with a crate motor even if the HiPo
is a little more work. At least the K is from the period. Thanks again for
all of your help. I could not have gotten this far with out the lists. Steve
the site looks great but I didn't see anything about the HiPo. Am I missing
it? Just trying to do my own research so I don't bother the list.
