Door latch striker loose

The door latch striker unit refuses to stay tight to the door pillar.  It can
be tightened, both bolts seem to set, but come loose shortly.  Always tightens
to the feel; don't appear to be stripped.  Door doesn't rattle, just doesn't
maintain a clean fit.  Any recommendations?  Haven't used lock-tite yet;
awaiting reply to this post first.
