Tigers,

If you plan on visiting LA, please leave room on your schedule for the
Petersen Automotive Museum. This was donated to LA County by by Robert
Petersen, publisher of Hot Rod magazine, among many others. There is a
permanent collection of fanastic vintage, historic, hot rod and sport
cars, set exhibits, car art work, and always a special exhibition of
some theme.

It is well worth visiting, and is located on the Wilshire Blvd. "Miracle
Mile", right near the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Museum of Art, the
La Brea Tar Pits site and Museum, and is in a very nice part of town.
Close by, north along Fairfax Blvd. a few miles, is CBS TV studios, the
famous Farmer's Market - with it's new mall addition, and West Hollywood
and the Sunset Strip is a few miles further to the north.

Just a few miles West is Beverly Hills and it's Rodeo Drive (worth a
trip to see where the BIG money is spent), and then West LA & UCLA, the
People's Republic of Santa Monica (9-), and the Pacific Ocean. North is
Santa Barbara, South is San Diego.

All this was my "hometown" area of a very large city, where most of my
formative years were wasted. This is the heart of the area that started
Sport Car mania, right after WW II, (now becoming SUV territory (8-(

Petersens have a very nice web site, although it is just starting up, so
not very populated. I suggest a quick look at this page, however.
