Tim:

First question:  As your Tiger warms up, does the temp gauge come up and
stabilize at about your thermostat temperature?  If so, there's a pretty
good chance that your gauge is accurate enough.

clues.  

I've seen numbers as high as that in my stock 260, without a major
blowout, too.
