I forgot to suggest the obvious.
Make sure your generator belt is tight
and is not slipping. I once was driving
my Tiger back from Toronto in the rain
when it died on the middle of NY State.
Luckily I was at an exit and coasted
off to a gas station. There I discovered
the generator belt was so loose you
could almost slip it off. I tightened
it, pushed the car down the gas station
incline, jumped in and off I went. Didn't miss a
beat the rest of the way back to the
Windy City. Moral: Check the obvious.
