Hey, guys:
I just wanted to let you all know that my Tiger is back amongst the living.
As you all may remember, I was having a problem with a dead #4 cylinder. I
admit that I had gotten so disgusted with it that I just walked away from it
for a while which, in retrospect, was probably the best thing I could have
done.
Finally, just for grins (but mostly out of desperation), I pulled an old
distributor out of a stock 260 that I had recently bought and installed it in
my 289. Lo and behold, that fixed the problem. I must admit that I never
thought that would have been the culprit; I figured that a distributor with
bad shaft bushings would cause an erratic misfire involving all of the
cylinders at one time or another. I still don't quite understand why it only
affected #4; maybe someone can clear that mystery up for me.
The bottom line here is that my Tiger is once again running like a champ! I'm
so happy to have it back on the road; I've really missed driving it. Thanks
to all on the list who contributed to my pleas for assistance.
Good 'Beaming,
Andy Walker
