Maybe he simply reversed the polarity
on the Clock. Easy to do.
When Chrysler completed their takeover of
Rootes, a lot of stand alone dealers did not
want to sell a Chrysler product. They sold
off what they had and used parts that were
in their inventory.
I believe that Illinois law for cars back then
was the sale date was the year of the car.
I remember going to a dealer and seeing
a new MK IA that sat in the corner for
a long time. He finally sold it as a 1969
Tiger since that was the sale date.
Manufacturers are still doing this. You
can buy a 2003 Cadillac Escalade this
spring.
