What Steve was saying is that the Hurst shifter was never a LAT option. The
LAT options were developed and marketed as "factory-installed options" to
give the racing Tigers a fighting chance. In reality, the equipment was
installed by dealers or by customers, but at least initially, the fact that
the equipment could be ordered as part of a Tiger was good enough to satisfy
the rule-making bodies involved in roadracing. Currently the car
manufacturers have a lot of pull with the SCCA's GT division, because what
wins on Sunday, still sells on Monday. A side effect of that is that orphan
cars, such as the Tiger, are slowly being legislated into uncompetitiveness,
regardless of (or because of) that team's dedication and success. For the
low-down on what rule changes are being made and enforced in GT-2, and how
that affects the Tiger, you're best off to talk directly to Tom Patton or
Barry Schonberger.

Happy New Year, everyone!
