Agree. When my wife's sister went away for business for a few months,
she put her realtively new Honda in a local storage locker. The ladies
didn't listen, of course, and I wasn't there when they locked it up, so
they left the battery connected. The alarm system flattened the battery
in no time at all.
When we went to recover the car, it jump started OK, and we drove to
over to our house, about 15 minutes probably at full charge. It
wouldn't restart a couple hours later. My puny old battery charger
isn't smart enough to shut off when it thinks it's done, so we left it
on overnight, and then normal operation was restored. She used the
battery for a couple years after that.
