Steve et al:
Something about Monday morning "arm-chair" analysis seems to perk the
old brain cells after a lethargic holiday weekend. Ahhh....
This is just a thought about your problem, Have you mounted the wheels
(without tires) on the spindles and using a dial indicator on the edge
slowly rotate the wheel by hand to check for "out-of-round" wheels?
The mount holes might possibly have been drilled off center if they
were added after casting and turning.
Just a comment on another posting topic:
The aluminum welding rod (from previous postings) is great for the pop cans
and other thin sheet metal. If you get into thicker material, you can't
put enough heat onto it to "join" the pieces without melting the base
metal. I ran into this problem when learning (read attempting) about
heliarc welding using a wire feed MIG. You have to seriously elevate the
work temperature with another heat source (torch or hotplate) to get a
good joint (along with inert gas shield and proper alloy wire).
