I remember working w/a guy 20 years ago who had an oil filter that used
a roll of toilet paper for a filter medium. And yes, the oil did remain
clear & pristine---but isn't it oil breakdown & dilution that we can't
see that "wears" it out? Isn't that the real enemy of effective engine
lubrication?
BTW---Seem to recall a flat mesh screen that screwedn on in place of the
regular filter & was reuseale after cleaning that purported to
outperform conventional oil filters. Auto mags had stories touting this
a few years back.
