Steve,
Were you using a thermometer to check water temperature while you heated it,
or going by 2120F as boiling point? You didn't say at what altitude you
live -- if you're substantially above sea level remember water boils at a
lower temp. You (someone, at any rate) mentioned the ground of the temp
sender -- remember not to use thread sealant that might insulate the ground
connection.
I find the complexity of the workings of the gauge amazing. Looking at
these, it seems odd to think what a big improvement these must have seemed
over the old capillary tube gauges.
