Thanks to everyone for the replies to my wiring questions about moving
the coil so I could install the dual feed fuel line on my new Holly
carb. After re-wiring things and installing the carb it started right
up. Even better, Lord Lucas has taken pity on me and nothing blew up and
the English smoke stayed inside the wires, where it is supposed to be. I
had to re-set the front float (too high) and mess with the idle mix a
bit but everything seems to work fine. I didn't take it out for a drive
yet (rained all evening here in Woodland Hills, California) but I'll do
that tommorow.
I had one heck of a time getting the right angle for the throttle cable.
It was binding with my old carb. setup also. The inner cable still binds
somewhat in the outer throttle cable but I finally got "tolerable"
results with a couple of stronger return springs and bending the braket
a bit. I know this is not ideal, though. With the throttle cable not
connected, the throttle return on the carb. itself closes very easily
and positively. With the cable attached, it doesn't. Are there any
suggestions/tricks out there to get a throttle cable/gas pedal free from
interference?
