Fuel pump

Thanks for all the advise.  I checked the solenoid and it has a high
resistance value, much higher than my old pump. I think that it is shorted.
I am going to send the new pump back.
New problem, when I turn the ignition switch on my tack goes to 5000+ rpm
instantly and stays there.
