Listers,
With regards to the Boost conversations, IMHO "There is no "REPLACEMENT" for
"DISPLACEMENT" that is why I am going to build a 350 stroker.

Tim

Jim,
Thanks for the work you have done on boost formulae, and the
exacting
analyses.
I do not want to get into any discussion here on who is
"more right" on
a simple statement about the order of magnitude of the boost
issue. It's
simply too complex and inappropriate for this forum.
But------ if you carefully read my original message it says
"Neglecting
thermal losses, of course."
This was meant as a statement of the gross theoretical
potentials,
whereas your educational formulae makes a great use of the
expression
"T2/T1", a compressor thermal rise due to adiabatic
compression --
purposefully neglected in my statement for simplicity. Then
you add
more "thermal losses" to get to what Doug admittedly stated
was an
"inches of mercury" misspoken statement, not a psi boost
statement. You
use centrifugal compressor examples, and the Miata accessory
units I
drove were roots type compressors, not centrifugal turbos
(not that it
is germane, here).
Peace, and lets try to keep the list to Tigers.
