Tony,
It appears you are putting the original oil filter assembly back on the
new engine. The gaskets from an oil filter are NOT suitable. The ones
I looked at were deeper than they were wide, and were not a flat, thin
disk, like you need.
Aside from that, you still have the seal at the block bolt head and the
one at the oil filter center tube big nut. These are normally a hard
fiber, and take some shearing stresses by the very large bolt heads,
with no washer to relieve the shear.
But, both Rick, at Sunbeam Specialties, and Curt, at Classic Sunbeam,
carry these parts. They are not expensive, and probably should be
changed periodically, so order a few sets of the filter nut end, and one
extra pair for the block adapter in case you need to remove that end. I
am in the process of re-converting mine from the Motorsport right angle
adapter for LAT exhaust equipment, which interferes.
