Mark, I assume that you have the u-joints out of the car, and if so you
can use a socket and a large vise to press the u-joint as far as it will
go to one side, take off the cap and the needle bearings, press to the
other side, and take off the other cap and needle bearings. The center
section of the u-joint will then come out.
Try soaking it in a solvent first to break the rust and dirt, and just
take your time, it will come out. Remember they probably have not been
out for 35 years, subject to heat and dirt, and just take a little time.
