You might want to recall Larry Reed, multiple brand new sports car dealer "Larry
Reed Sports Cars", who also was a test bed for LAT new ideas, Stan Peterson,
running in the stock NHRA Vacca Valley, California race in 1965, and winning,
Art
Arfons, Jim Adams - Ian Garrad's driver, Ron Dykes, successor owner of car and
sponsored by Vincent Motors, Lew Spencer (who hated the car's handling), one
time
Sunbeam/Morgan Dealer, employer of Ken Miles for a time (I knew them both and
let's not forget Ken was a world class champion himself, who raced Alpines!,
both
of whom also drove for Carroll Shelby, Peter Boulton, John Latta, Dave Johnson,
Cliff Brien, Wally Cartwright, Danny Shields, Don Von, Bill Woodul, Ron Root,
the
well known author Gordon Chittenden not only wrote about how to modify your
Tiger,
but did so and raced to be the National Record Holder in the AHRA for '65, '66,
and 67, and Roland Sol.
Now, that's just the short list of the big winners. Still lot's of 'club'
racers
that drove their cars during the rest of the time. Those are the un-sponsored
enthusiasts who spent their own money and beat up their own car for the joys of
amateur racing, and made SCCA and CSCC.
Larry, long enough?
