I'm wondering if anyone on the list may have a solution to a problem that
I've just run into while installing a set of headers on my '64 MkI. This
weekend I did a test fit of a set of headers that I got from Rick @ SS.
While the headers themselves fit fine with no need of "adjustment", I ran
into a problem with the clearance between the front tube and my oil filter.
A PO had converted the original remote filter to the block mounted 1/2
quart "shorty". I've discovered that the front header tube runs directly in
front of that area of the block making it impossible to remove or replace a
filter. I'm not even sure that there's enough clearance for the filter with
it completely screwed down on the block. I don't have any of the original
filter components which leaves me looking me looking for an aftermarket
setup which might solve the problem. Anyone been down this road before? And
if so, what components did you use to solve the problem?
